[ENG] 2021 Oscar's Winner - Another Round

The Danish film Another Round has won the best International feature Oscar at the 93rd Academy Awards. The story began with a night of food and wine pairing. Four high school teachers then conducted a drinking experiment and see how it affects their social and professional lives.

The story began at the dining table; when caviar was being served, a sommelier suggested to pair with a bottle of Imperia Vodka to complement its freshness and saltiness.

When the main was being served, the sommelier suggested a pairing with a bottle of red wine from Domaine Jérôme Chézeaux.

The domaine is suited in Nuits Saint Georges, and Chézeaux owns approximately 12 ha of vineyards, including some of the best crus in NSG, Vougeot, Vosne Romanne. Jérôme Chézeaux strictly follows the most traditional methods in the cellar and being firmly as “non-interventionist”. The purity of his wines is revelatory. The estate has received high praise from the Wine Advocate.

One of the main character Martin, began the experiment by a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka. It started out perfectly, finding a new-confidence, more energy, a renewed connection to his work and relationships. But then….

…the experiment continues, and things started to get messy when the alcohol level went up. The characters went to a supermarket completely wasted after a few shots of Campari and loads of other alcohol, and drunken raged.

Months later, the experiment affected each of the four characters differently, and Martin has stopped from alcoholism. The story ended with him dancing and drinking a bottle of sparkling wine - Cavalier Blanc de Blancs Demi Sec with his students. Turns out it’s the choices you make that made a difference, rather than alcohol itself.
